Edna Doreen Stefishen
March 27, 1943 to September 14, 2019

Edna passed away in Calgary on September 14th, 2019. She leaves behind to mourn her forever soulmate, George Assad, step-children; Gillian (Jason), Andrew (Simone) and grandchildren Maya, Lola, Alyson, Luca, Coco, and Hugo. Sisters Joyce (Paul), Florence (Don) and brother Cliff (Robbi) and soul sister Cindy Watt. Her nieces and nephews Denise, Brian, Wayne, Karen and Taris. Also nephews Jason and Chris Brown (Sylvie) her godson who were treasured and loved, and had a special place in his Aunt’s heart.

Edna had a heart of gold and generous soul, helping all in need. An avid nature lover, the birds, rabbits and deer visited daily for her treats. Most of her career was with Pan American and Air Canada Airlines enabling her to travel worldwide and realize how fortunate she was to be Canadian. She worked in the social services department for the Government of Alberta learning so much about characteristics of the world’s people and different value systems. Volunteering became an important endeavor after retirement and she helped at food banks and various charity organizations.

Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. Next time a butterfly passes by, remember Edna as she is just flying by to give you an important message of love and hope.

Her ashes are to be scattered in the Pacific Ocean off Dallas Road in Victoria, BC.

In lieu of a service at her request, a Celebration of Life is to be held in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday September 21, 2019 at COUNTRY HILLS CREMATORIUM & FUNERAL SERVICES, 11995 – 16th Street NE at 3:00 pm.

It will be a celebratory event as Edna would want us to celebrate her in true Mick Jagger fashion, her favorite musician.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in her memory to the local SPCA or Food Bank.
