Gary Vincent Michael Kenney
It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Vincent Michael Kenney announce his peaceful passing in his home, with his wife Michelle by his side on April 1, 2021, at the age of 66.
Gary was born in Edmonton and resided here in Calgary. He worked many years in the Oil and Gas industry servicing and selling oil compressors. For the last few years Gary thoroughly enjoyed working at Charlesglen Toyota. Gary was an accomplished marksman who won several awards at Cowboy Action shooting festivals. He also enjoyed many happy hours riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Gary’s most treasured times were spent with his family, his wife Michelle (nee Shannon), daughter Sarah Herrewynen (nee Kenney), son-in-law Peter Herrewynen and sweet Granddaughter Kinley Herrewynen who very much loves her Grandpops.
Recently, Gary, his brother Brian and daughter Sarah enjoyed tracing their family tree on Ancestry .ca. Gary had a very special relationship with his brother Brian Kenney and sister-in-law Lesley Wolfe that was not hampered by physical distance. They supported and shared love, laughter and stories often, through phone, email, Zoom calls and a much enjoyed visit from Brian and Lesley in August 2019. Also, he loved and appreciated his brother-in-law Gordon Klassen, mother-in-law Lucy Shannon, sister-in-law Suzanne Oliver (nee Shannon) and her husband Kent Oliver, nephew Joel Oliver-Cormier and his wife Christina, nephew Peter Oliver, sister-in-law Laura Klumpp (nee Shannon) and her husband Darcy Klumpp, niece Taryn Klumpp and nephew Devon Klumpp. Gary is loved dearly and will be missed by all his loved ones.
Gary was predeceased by his mother Ethel Robina Kenney (nee Olynyk), sister Cheryl Klassen (nee Kenney) and father-in-law Neil Edward Shannon.
Friends, neighbours and family will all remember Gary as a handyman who could fix almost anything with a motor, and he was often out lending a hand to anyone who needed it. Neighbors consistently comment on what a great guy Gary is.
Gary’s strong faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ brings peace to his family who look forward to being reunited with him in heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? John 14: 1-3 Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself that where I am you may be also. And you know The Way, where I am going.
One of Gary’s favorite scriptures: 1 John 5:24 Those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life.
No service will be held at this time; burial was held at Queens Park Cemetery on April 8, 2021.
Those who wish to may give a donation in Gary’s name to Worth Auto, Youth Unlimited YFC Calgary, website YUCALGARY.CA One of Gary’s favorite charities; Worth Auto, Youth Unlimited supports at risk Youth in Calgary training them to become mechanics.
