John (Sean) Charles Casey died on December 13th, 2021 in Okotoks, Alberta. Born to Cornelius and Patricia Casey on May 4th, 1958 in Birmingham, England, he was raised in Co. Cork, the second youngest of four children. Immigrating to Canada in 1981, John worked as a heavy duty mechanic for both The City of Calgary and for his own business. His entrepreneurial spirit was always strong and he invented a machine called ‘The Board Beast’ used at arenas around town. Who would have thought an Irish guy that couldn’t skate would get involved in the Zamboni business?
John also had a love of music that saw him gig all over the city. He played guitar and sang in bands such as Finnegan’s Wake and their music was enjoyed by many.
He is survived by his two children, Cara ( Mark) O’Loughlin and Colin Casey, his grandchildren Molly and Audrey O’Loughlin as well as his brother Alan (Wendy) Casey and sister, Tricia (Jimmy) O’Leary, his niece Fiona O’Leary and nephew, James O’Leary. He is predeceased by his son, Geoffrey Casey, his brother, Nealie Casey, his parents Con and Patricia Casey and his beloved dog, Billy.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at COUNTRY HILLS CREMATORIUM & FUNERAL SERVICES, 11995 16 Street NE, on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 3:00 pm.

We knew Sean through his playing in Fiinigans Wake. We spent many wonderful evenings with the band.
Also you lived in Parkland so would see your Dad around.
Our memories of Sean, he was fun, funny and a wonderful man.
We do know that he had some difficult year’s and now he is at Peace in the loving arms of Our Father in Heaven.

I worked at the City with Sean and he was a very good friend, someone you could trust. He would always lend a hand and had a kind heart. Sean had his struggles but he tried hard to find peace.

I am very sad to know Sean is gone from this world. I will remember him for his generousity, kindness and wit and as a friend, especially as we raised our young families together.
Sean was well know and loved in the Irish community as a talented musician and entertainer. I have fond memories from attending gigs he played around town. Sean could play any song and was in his element with guitar in hand. He loved a good story and always had a good one to share.

I knew Sean years ago when helped to fix my tuck as a locksmith.
I knew Geoff and Colin his cherished boys, he loved his family and was a class fella all the way. I seen his invention of buidling a Zamboni in his shop and was blown away by his engineering skills.
In the back room of his shop was always his guitar and he loved to jam and talk about cars.
You will be missed my friend. Thanks for all your automotive pointers and meeting your two boys, they are a smart bunch – a chip off the old block with their entrepreneurial skills.

Sincere sadness at the premature death of Johnny, May he Rest In Peace in the arms of our Blessed Mother. He was a great guy whom I had the pleasure of sharing many childhood memories with his family. My great friend, John’s Mam always spoke with love and pride about Johnny and his success in his new country. She was delighted with her Canadian grandchildren , Cara’s achievements in her Irish step dancing was worthy of special mention. Condolences to cara, Colin, Patricia and Alan at this sad time. We will keep you all in our prayers.
I was so sorry to hear of Sean’s passing. He was a very kind man and many,many wonderful evenings were spent singing and drinking along with Finnegan’s Wake. We prayer for all of you as you try to get through these most difficult times. I pray that he was at peace and now can be with his boy again safe in the arms of our Lord. Finnegan’s Wake evenings were some of my fondest memories growing up and we thank you for sharing him with us. Living on Pig’s Street made him even more famous! Rest in peace Sean.
