I played badminton and volleyball and shared a few pints with Laurence for more than 20 years. He was a man of incredible spirit, energy, and sense of humor. One story that speaks to his character was playing volleyball against him. I kept trying to block his attack but he always found a way to tip some junk over me, slice one around me or drive one through my block. I remember one game where I went up to block him and could see he was going to pull some sneaky shit and slice one around me. I reached way over the net to my side and completely roofed him. The ball rocketed off his hand, off my block and hit the floor at his feet before he did. I was completely impressed with myself and lots of high fives from my team mates. When I turned back to the net Laurence reached under the net and gave me a fist bump saying “great block”. Always a gentleman, loved to compete and seemed to enjoy it even more when others were competing at his level. I miss him a lot.

Met Laurence while working at Smart Technology back in 2009. He was quick to share inside knowledge of the business and how we could work together to make things better for both of us and move Smart forward. This win-win is essentially LB, he genuinely wants others to do well. Whether sharing tips on softball, badminton or life experience, he was a great friend. Discussions ranged from politics to theology, to economics and giving each other tips for work. Thank you Master Po from Grasshopper.
