Linda Mary Pierce

It is with broken hearts that we announce that in the early morning hours of December 6, 2021, Linda passed away suddenly while being comforted by family. She was 70 years young.

Linda is survived by her mother Marion Smith, daughter Kelly Pierce and son-in-law Ryen Hodgson, former husband Paul Pierce, her grandchildren Cody Nelson, Locke Nelson, Eric Nelson, Taylor Nelson, Quyn Hodgson, Teagan Hodgson, Lux Hodgson, great grandson Caiden Shruger, brothers Patrick Kilmartin sons Adam and Michael, Timothy and Lori Kilmartin and son Damian, daughters Michelle and Scott children Sadie, Toby, and Henry, Lindsay and Nick daughters Olivia, Stella, and Remy, brother-in-law Brian and Judy Pierce, sons Ryan and Sarah daughters Annabelle and Elizabeth, Scott and Melissa children Eva and Dylan, sister-in-law Kathy and Brad Knight, children Jenn and Nick son Nathan, and Russ Knight.

Linda was predeceased by her father Noah Kilmartin, father-in-law Douglas Pierce and mother-in-law Jean Pierce.

Linda was born in Ottawa and married Paul in 1972. They moved across the country in 1980 and settled in Calgary. She worked mostly in retail, and she worked long hours to provide for her family.

Linda was a very giving and kind person who would always put others before herself. She was soft spoken but passionate about her family. Her eyes would light up at every opportunity she had to spend time with or discuss her daughter and grandchildren. She loved to laugh, spend time with family and friends, listen to classic rock, and watch “vintage” tv.

She also loved all animals two and four legged. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Humane Society of Calgary in Linda’s memory.

A special thank you to the amazing team at Cambridge Manor for their efforts in caring for Linda in her final days.

A celebration of life for Linda will be scheduled at a later date.

God Saw You Getting Tired

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered “Come to me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn’t make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
