Pawel Artur Gwozd

Pawel Artur Gwozd passed away unexpectedly in Calgary, Alberta on December 4, 2021 at the age of 54 years. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

To say that he was was beloved Installation/Project Manager at North American Storage and an integral part of NASECO business for over 20 years falls far short of his contribution and his importance to so many of people at North American Storage. To many he was a friend first.  To others, he was like a father, a brother in arms, and by any definition, a member of the family. His abilities were recognized throughout the industry, and the respect he was shown by those that knew him, and many that only knew of him, was a reflection of his reputation that he rightly deserved.  A reflection not only of his skills on the jobsite, but the level of personal investment he made towards all that he set his strong willed mind to helping.  He was as coach, a shoulder to lean on, a confidant, and sometimes an ass kicker. So often, his mischievous smile, a sly joke, or a proud picture of him fishing on the weekend would so easily turn your day around for the better. You always knew he had your best interest at heart, and your back when things were tough.

Our Lord must have some important work to do if He decided to take him away from us. I can not think of anyone more reliable to take upon a project and give it all to accomplish it.It is extremely difficult to accept that I will not be able to talk to my brother, to share a laugh and sorrow. He was so young and his passing makes me feel so old. He has a good heart, strong character. He was a high-achiever, kind person and reliable friend. There are no words to describe the big whole in my heart. Our whole family is still in desbelief that Paweł has passed away.

A Prayer Service will be held at COUNTRY HILLS CREMATORIUM & FUNERAL SERVICES, 11995 – 16 Street NE on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 10:00 am. Cremation will follow. Pawel’s remains will be laid to rest in a family plot in Poland at a later date. Due to the city by-law all those attending in person must provide personal identification as well as either proof of double vaccination, or proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within 72 hours of service, or documentation of a medical exemption. Living in BC I did not always get a chance to spend a lot of time with Pawel in person.
We made up for it by phone and tried to change the world while solving many issues of work and political tragedies.
He was one of the realest people I knew.
He could halt you in your tracks on things we did not agree on and warm you with his laugh.
He had several Colorfull metaphors that did not translate in English which we laughed about endlessly
Missing him would be my greatest parting gift .
Sleep well brother and go with god where he takes you

I share the sentiments posted here. Pawel became a close friend to me and the entire CMI team. I always looked forward to sharing a coffee with him and he celebrated every fishing adventure although some I suspect were exaggerated just a bit.
On behalf of my staff I send my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I first met Pawel when I was working as an installer for NAS. I only worked briefly for NAS but my professional relationship with Pawel lasted up until his unfortunate death. I regret that I am out of town and won’t be able to attend todays service. Please accept my condolences to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Dear family and loved ones of Pawel:
We are heartbroken for your loss and want to express our deepest sympathies.

As prior owners of NASECO before we retired in 2015, Iain and I had the privilege to work with Pawel for about 15 years as he managed the installation crews. He was a dedicated, hard working and very loyal employee. He took pride in his work and had a very good reputation with our clients as he would go above and beyond to ensure they were more than satisfied with the project.

We saw Pawel about 3 years ago when we were traveling through New Brunswick and he was there working on a large project. We called him to meet for a coffee and a visit. A good memory for us.

We will continue to pray for you all as you grieve your loss.
