Wasdev Singh Minhas

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wasdev Singh Minhas announce his sudden passing on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta at 71 years of age. He was surrounded by loved ones.

Wasdev is survived by his loving wife of 51 years (Joginder Kaur), his son (Kanwardeep) and daughter-in-law (Loni), daughter (Kushvinder) and son in-law (Melvinder), daughter-in-law (Maninderjot), his sisters (Rajrani Kaur and Charanjit Kaur) and brother-in-laws (Sohan Singh and Bhupinder Singh). Wasdev is also survived by 7 grandkids and many loving nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.  He was predeceased by his son (Harbinder Singh Minhas), father (Tulsa Singh Minhas) and mother (Kartar Kaur).

Wasdev was born June 1, 1949 in Punjab, India (Village Daroli Khurd). He immigrated to Calgary, AB in 1972 and settled in the community of Penbrooke and then moved to Conrich, AB in the early 90’s, where he raised his family. He was one of the inaugural members of the Calgary Sikh community where he built lifelong relationships. Wasdev was known for his kind heart, giving personality and incredible sense of humour. He was an entrepreneur with multiple successful businesses whose reputation for being a hard worker preceded him. Wasdev was a self-motivated learner who was constantly taking on new projects and spending time learning and furthering his skills.

In his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandkids, catching up with old friends, working on his acreage, traveling back to his home village in India and pursuing hobbies.

Funeral Services for Wasdev Singh Minhas will be held at the COUNTRY HILLS CREMATORIUM & FUNERAL SERVICES, 11995 – 16 Street NE on Saturday, October 3^rd at 10:00 am.
