October 11th, 1936 – January 19th, 2026
ANTHONY (TONY) MALCOLM GEORGE THOMPSON passed away peacefully January 19 th 2026 in Calgary, AB Canada after a lengthy battle with Frontotemporal dementia. Tony was born on Oct 11,1936 in Heathfield Sussex, England to Lilian and Fredrick Thompson. He married Jean Elton on April 27,1957, at St. Richard’s, in Heathfield, Sussex, England.
Tony and Jean immigrated to Canada in 1957 along with his father, mother, sister and brother. He began working for CP Rail in 1957. Tony and Jean welcomed a daughter in July 1967. In 1974 he started Q-Tron Electronics with 3 other partners. He ran Q-Tron until 1998 when he sold the company and retired. Anyone that knows Tony, was not surprised when his retirement did not stick and in 2001, he started Cableworks Manufacturing. He worked with his son in law Adrian and daughter Sherrie from 1984 until 2022 when he was diagnosed with dementia. Tony’s joy came from travelling, vacationing and spending time at the lake with his family.
Tony was predeceased by Mother Lilian and Father Fredrick Thompson. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years Jean, daughter Sherrie (Adriano) Cecchetto, granddaughter Natasha (Colton) Courage, grandson Chris (Natalie) Cecchetto, great grandson’s Austin and Wyatt Courage, great granddaughter Adelynn Cecchetto, sister Pat Thompson and brother Terry (Sandy) Thompson.
Tony will be cremated, and as per his request there will be no formal service. In Liew of
