November 17, 1945 – July 24, 2025
Duane Lloyd Poulton passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by friends and family at Foothills Hospital. Born and raised in Calgary, Duane had a passion for many sports consisting of baseball, hunting, fishing and golf. Duane was a proud member of the Bears Paw Golf Club.
At 17, he began working in a warehouse, inspiring him to pursue business studies at SAIT. In 1967, he started a 35-year career with Imperial Oil, rising to Senior Contracts Manager before retiring in 2003.
Duane loved the outdoors — hunting, fishing, and gardening, especially growing tomatoes. His harvests often ended up on the dinner table, seasoned with his own blend, “Dewey’s Best,” and shared alongside stories of his adventures.
He is predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Irene, and sisters Jackie and Linda. Survived by his loving wife Sandra, sister Sandy, and a beautiful blended family – his children Andrea and Christopher (Sherrilynn), stepchildren Sonya (Corby), Tanya (Jason), Roxanne (Mark), Jake (Kim), 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and lifelong friends Turner (Debbie), Jim (Carol), Bob (Rose), Jack (Marion).
In Duane’s words, “I wish I was on the other side of the grass.” and “When you get older never trust a fart.”
He will be forever in our hearts and at every BBQ.

My sympathies to Sandy and all of Duane’s family. He was a great guy and a fun person to golf with. We had many games together. Rest in Peace my friend.
