It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kavita Basant, who left us peacefully on September 13, 2025, at 3:40 PM, in Chestermere, Alberta, Canada, at the age of 47.

Kavita was born on February 2, 1978, in Sigatoka, Fiji, daughter of Ramend Chand and Sukdha Wati. She married Amit Basant in Fiji on June 16, 2002. She was the devoted mother of Avani and Darsh Basant, and a caring sister to Babita Chandra and Vinita Pratap (brother in law Sanjay Pratap). To her family, she was the heart of the home — always present, always supportive, and always checking in on everyone no matter how busy life became.

Kavita had a unique strength — even in her most challenging moments, she found a way to see the good, to keep smiling, and to lighten the room with her humor. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and cared for. Her gentle presence, warm heart, and ability to bring people together will never be forgotten.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, connection, and quiet courage that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
