Zora Singh Dhaliwal

January 17, 1934 – Punjab, India
September 25, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta, Canada

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zora Singh Dhaliwal, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of
91. He was born on January 17, 1934, in the village of Baude, Punjab, where he was one of six siblings, including two brothers and three sisters.
Zora (whom we lovingly called Bapuji) married Nasib Kaur in 1956 and together they were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Tragically, Nasib Kaur passed away in 1993, but her
memory lived on in Bapuji and in the family they built together.
In 1994, Bapuji made the decision to move to Canada, where he worked alongside his sons on their farm in Keremeos, British Columbia. His work ethic, dedication, and commitment to his
family remained his defining qualities throughout his life. Despite his new life in Canada, Bapuji never lost his deep connection to his roots, traveling back to India every year to visit his
homeland and maintain the bond with his extended family and community. Bapuji was also known for his community involvement. In his village back in India, he played an
instrumental role in building a new high school, ensuring the children of his community would have access to a brighter future. His sense of duty to his community extended to his life in
Canada as well. In 1999, he joined the local seniors’ society, where he became an active member, always helping others with a kind heart and an open hand. In 2008, Bapuji was part of
a group that helped establish a new society and acquire a building for it, leaving a lasting mark on the community he had embraced as his own.
Bapuji’s determination was truly extraordinary. In 2012, following a medical setback that left him unable to walk, doctors told him he would possibly never walk again. But Bapuji, with his
unshakeable faith and unwavering willpower, defied the odds. Through God’s grace and his own relentless determination, Bapuji regained the ability to walk and continued to live an active life
until his passing.
Just twelve days before his death, Bapuji was honoured by the federal government with an award for being the longest-living member of the INCA Senior Citizens Society, a recognition
that truly reflected the respect and admiration he earned throughout his life. Bapuji is survived by his three sons, three daughters-in-law, one daughter, one son-in-law, eight
grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. His family will forever cherish his legacy of strength, resilience, and love. Bapuji’s life was a testament to the power of determination, faith,
and family. His influence will continue through the generations he leaves behind. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
