Steve Andre Neal

Steve Andre Neal, known to many as Uncle Steve, passed away unexpectedly at Foothills Medical Centre on November 26, 2025, at the age of 54.
He was born in Escoumins, Quebec on March 12, 1971. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer (Baldwin) Neal. He was the son of Robert Neal and the late Lise Neal, and the brother of Nadia Munn and her husband Lloyd. He was uncle to Samantha Munn and her husband Calvin Drost.

Steve is also survived by his Baldwin family. Alan and Catherine Baldwin and their children Ian and Lee. Grant and Karen Baldwin and their sons Luke and Max. He held a special place in his heart for his late in-laws Jim and Marion Baldwin.

Steve grew up in Doaktown, New Brunswick and stayed connected with many of his friends from home throughout his life. Just out of high school he joined the Reserves and completed a tour in Germany. He spent many summers working at Grandview Golf Course in Nova Scotia where he met two of his closest lifelong friends, Alan Baldwin and Shane Jackson.

With a drive to build a career, Steve moved to Alberta in search of work in the oil and gas industry and quickly found a place with Precision Drilling. He later returned to Nova Scotia to work for Santa Fe on the Sable Island project. His work eventually took him overseas with various oil and gas companies, and he later joined Valaris where he stayed until the end.

Steve moved back to Alberta in 2023 and spent much of his time with Shona, Doug, and their family, who became an important part of his life.

Steve loved his family and friends and any time spent with them. He loved sports, especially football, hockey and the Oilers, and golf. He loved fishing and hunting with his favourite dog Chase. He loved cars, motorcycles, and a good debate. He was generous, loyal, and a natural storyteller. He also loved working in the garage on projects from cars and bikes to home brewing.

Cremation has taken place at County Hills Crematorium in Calgary. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Canadian Transplant Association. The family would also like to acknowledge the exceptional care and support provided by Dr. P. Couillard and the ICU POD C team at Foothills Medical Centre.

Steve will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He was one of a kind.
