It is with profound sorrow and deep reverence that we, his children, share the peaceful passing of our beloved father, Professor Girishbhai Patel, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the age of 82.
Our father was born on January 10, 1943, in Bakrol, Gujarat, India. From an early age, he carried a deep respect for education, discipline, and service—values that guided his life and shaped the way he raised us. As a lifelong educator, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring countless students. He believed deeply in knowledge as a path to character, humility, and responsibility, and he lived those beliefs every day. Though a lecturer by profession, he always identified himself as a true farmer. He believed deeply in farming and held Mother Earth as sacred. He worked on the land with wholehearted devotion throughout his life and rarely ended a day without visiting his fields, finding peace and purpose in the soil he loved.
At home, he was our anchor. He was a devoted husband to our late mother, Smt. Kokilaben Patel, and together they built a family rooted in love, sacrifice, and strong values. As a father, he led with patience, quiet strength, and unwavering support, always encouraging us to grow, learn, and remain grounded. As a grandfather, he was gentle, affectionate, and immensely proud, finding his greatest joy in the laughter and achievements of his grandchildren. He was a dedicated Hanuman Bhakt and found deep solace in chanting the Hanuman Chalisa and Sunderkand, practices that reflected his unwavering faith and spiritual discipline.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, unity, and values through his children and grandchildren:
Daughter Hirni Vijay Patel and grandsons Kishan and Shyam (Toronto, ON)
Daughter Shital, son-in-law Hiten, and grandson Jatan (Toronto, ON)
Daughter Dhruma and grandson Aayush (Calgary, AB)
Daughter Rachana, son-in-law Bhavin, grandson Pratik, and granddaughter Meera (Calgary, AB)
Son Jay, daughter-in-law Pinal, and granddaughters Dia and Sia (Austin, TX)
Our father lived a life defined by integrity, humility, faith, and quiet strength. Though we will miss him deeply, his teachings, values, and devotion will continue to guide us and future generations.
