December 31st, 1958 – December 11th, 2025
It is with profound love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Gilles Maisonneuve on the morning of December 11, at 9:20 am, 2025, at the age of 66.
Gilles was born in the beautiful Peace River country in 1958 where he spent his formative years, attending grades 1- 12 at école Routhier in Falher, Alberta.
After attending the music program at Grant MacEwan college in Edmonton he then headed east for a number of years in order to immerse himself in the culture of Quebec and help strengthen the bond of his ancestral language.
After returning to Alberta, he went to England to marry and returned to Calgary with his wife Louise. He worked in the hospitality industry before moving on to various roles in transportation.
His memory lives on through his loving wife of 26 years, Louise, step-daughter Sarah, step-son Kevin, grandson Louis, his mother Carmen and siblings Lise, (Peter), Claire (François), Louis (Joanne) , Roland (Joan), Jean-Pierre (Deanna) and sister in law, Doris as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Gilles was predeceased by his father, Gérard and his brother, Claude, son Marc.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nursing staff at the Cancer centre, Calgary and members of the Home-care and palliative teams for the exemplary, compassionate care they provided to Gilles and Louise.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no service, but a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to The Meow Foundation, Calgary.
