November 6, 1964 – February 16, 2026 On behalf of the Sharma and Muchalla family, it is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the peaceful passing of Baljit Sharma on February 16, 2026. A devoted husband, grandfather, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Baljit lived a life defined by quiet strength, generosity of spirit, and a heart that welcomed everyone with warmth. Born on November 6, 1964, in Ghal Kalan, Punjab, India, Baljit began his Canadian journey in Prince Rupert, BC. A small-town boy with a big heart, he carried with him a deep sense of purpose, compassion, and humility. In 1990, he married his beloved wife, Sangeeta, and together they raised two beautiful children, Kavita and Roshan—his greatest pride and joy. In 2005, the family moved to High River, Alberta, embracing new opportunities and strengthening the bonds that defined their life together.
Baljit had a remarkable way of steadying those around him—offering comfort in difficult moments and celebrating life’s joys with sincerity and gratitude. He often reminded others, “Always smile, as you don’t know what tomorrow will bring,” a reflection of the gentle optimism he carried throughout his life.
Baljit was a lifelong hockey lover and a devoted Edmonton Oilers fan. Some of Baljit’s happiest childhood memories were spent playing street hockey in the cul-de-sac with friends, braving sun, rain, sleet, or snow—always with the same determination and joy that carried him through life. Later, in honour of his father’s passing, Baljit coined the name Bal52, a personal tribute that blended his love of the game with the deep respect he held for his family and roots. Baljit’s world was rooted in love for his family and community. He was a source of unwavering support, thoughtful guidance, and boundless patience. His wisdom was never loud, yet always felt. His laughter—soft, warm, and unmistakably joyful—will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to share in it.
A memorial service in his honour will be held on February 22, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Country Hills Crematorium & Funeral Services in Calgary, followed by prayers at the Sikh Society of Calgary. Family and friends are invited to gather, reflect, and celebrate a life lived with integrity, devotion, and grace.
As we mourn his loss, we also honour the legacy he leaves behind: a reminder to greet each day with compassion, to hold our loved ones close, and to move through the world with intention and kindness. May Baljit’s memory continue to guide us—softly, steadily, and with love. He will forever be in our hearts. In honour of Baljit’s memory, the family extends their support to all those facing cancer and welcomes donations instead of flowers to the Alberta Cancer Centre at albertacancer.ca/donate.
