Brent (Terrence) O’Callaghan

January 23, 1959 – May 5, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brent (Terrence) O’Callaghan, 67 yrs old of Sydney who died May 5, 2026, in Calgary from heart failure.

Brent is lovingly remembered by his mom, Jean MacNeil; his sisters Lynn (Jeremy) and Susan, niece Breugh Wood and nephew Bryant Wood, He is also survived by extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Ivan O’Callaghan and step-father Robert MacNeil, as well, as his beloved cousins Murray Reid and Bob Moore, friend Bo LeTerte, and his wire-haired terrier Keisha.

Brent grew up in Mira Road, surrounded by a close-knit circle of neighbourhood friends giving him many years filled with friendship, laughter, and memories he treasured throughout his life.

Brent was an auto-mechanic in Sydney, until he ventured out to Calgary 20 years ago working for the most part in Northern Alberta working for Local 92 Labour Union.

Brent made friends easily, loved snowmobiling, cooking, tarabish, karaoke, and watching the weather channel, but he most enjoyed the comfort of hanging out with his friends sharing some drinks and laughs. As a young boy his sisters fondly remember him spending hours meticulously constructing model car kits. He will be remembered for his willing desire to lend a helping hand, wherever needed, his sense of humour, deep appreciation for the simple things in life and for his love of his family and friends. Brent will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Brent’s family extends a sincere thank you and appreciation to his neighbour and friend Chicklet MacDowell for her support and kindness to his family during this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Country Hills Crematorium, Calgary Alberta and his remains will be sent back home to Cape Breton. As requested, no service.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honour his memory with a simple act of kindness and share a funny Brent story, as there are many.

Brent will be deeply missed and forever loved.
