It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maya Bhardwaj, who passed away on August 6th, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 85. Maya was born on November 14, 1940, in Dhurkot, Punjab, India. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Above all, Maya will be remembered as a gentle and caring soul to all whose hearts she touched.

Maya is lovingly remembered by her children, Usha (Swaraj), Amarjit (Kamaljit), and Naresh (Sonu); her grandchildren, Karan (Jyoti), Ketan, Kunal, Rajni, Gautam, Arjun, and Anika; her great-granddaughter, Sia; and her brothers, Pirthi Chand (Jaswanti) and Lal Chand. She was predeceased by her husband, Parshotam Dass Bhardwaj; parents, Sri Chand and Basant Kaur; and her siblings, Harbhagwan Dass, Shanti Devi, Malkit, and Darshan Kumar.

Maya immigrated to Canada in 1973 and spent her early years in Sparwood, British Columbia, before making Calgary her home, where she built a life filled with family, friendships, and cherished memories. Maya will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
