January 30, 1936 – Halifax NS
October 1, 2025 – Calgary AB
“It’s a beautiful day!” was the phrase spoken repeatedly by Barb. I know that she will continue to find beauty where she is now.
Peacefully and surrounded by family, Barbara Anne Stark (Jones) passed away at the age of 89, on October 1, 2025. Our beloved Wife, Mother, Gramma, GiGi, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
She will be lovingly remembered by her extraordinary husband of 64 years, Garnet Allan and five children: Cheryl (Brian), Gary (Lori), Karen (Gary), Kathy (Bob), Glen (Jenn).18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Siblings Sally Morash, Roy and Arthur.
Barb is predeceased by her wild siblings and wonderful parents: Linda, Harold, Robert, Dorothy, Billy, Hilda, Gordon, Bessie, Wally, Ma & Pup – Sarah Ethel (Newport) & Arthur Jones. The Jones’ did family like no other and it was always an adventure to be with them.
Barb was born in Halifax, NS, January 30, 1936. However, she thought it was January 31st until she applied for her birth certificate to get her license at 40 years old. She took advantage of this and extended her celebrations for much of the month. She worked at the telephone company until she met her sailor and got married within ten months. They started their family and had five
children within six years. There was often talk about a baby we didn't know about or having another baby, even at the age of 89, which she always wittingly wove into a conversation, LOL.
We loved how amusing Barb was no matter what was going on. Barb was very dedicated to her family and not only kept the home front running smoothly, she cared for several other children and they felt like part of the family as well. Barb’s life was lived well, she had the joy of the Lord and she’s left a beautiful legacy. Some of her loves were the sun, the sea, sea food, chocolate and a good game of cards. You’d find her basking in the sun getting every drop of sun rays. The sea is special to us all being from Nova Scotia and Barb couldn't get enough of it, or lobster. When it came to cards Barb was creative in her plays and you needed to keep an eye on her. As her memory started to wane, it was impressive to see her witty and sharp choices to try to win. She was a joy to be around and there is no one like her. She was loved well, she received it and poured it out to all she met. Till we meet again!
