February 23rd, 1960 – December 20th, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gail Jean McLeod. After enduring health difficulties for many years, Gail peacefully entered eternal rest on December 20th, 2025.
Gail is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband of 30 years, Darren McLeod, and her children, Amanda, James (Diana), Morgan (Daniel), Melody (Brody). As well as her three grandchildren, her sister, and many other family and friends. She is predeceased by her mother, Jean Thompson, and her father-in-law, Thomas R. McLeod.
Despite her humble and quiet demeanor as she grew older, those who knew Gail knew that she had many stories to tell about her life. Gail was born in Lancashire, England, and moved to Canada in the late 1960’s at 8 years old. After immigrating to Canada, she grew up to be an independent, brave, curious, and incredibly motivated woman.
While raising her first two children, Gail worked hard to complete her schooling, acquiring her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, as well as her degree in Nursing. She became a Registered Nurse (RN) and worked in a Long Term Care facility for many years. As she moved up in her workplace, she became an educator for other nurses and healthcare workers, and eventually moved into the position of Executive Director of another LTC facility. She was incredibly proud of her work and found a lot of joy in her career. Her passion for helping others and caring for those around her extended well beyond the walls of her workplace – she was a caregiver through and through.
In her younger years, Gail was known for being an amazing dancer. She loved putting on a fun outfit, going out, and dancing – especially with her husband, Darren. She also enjoyed camping with her family, travelling (specifically to Las Vegas!), spending time with all of her children, planning and prepping for the annual McLeod Family Christmas Eve Party, watching sci-fi movies, and learning new things. Although she completed her University education many years ago, she never stopped seeking new information and was continuously furthering her knowledge.
Gail had countless stories to tell – far too many to write in one space – but her family and friends will continue to recount those stories time and time again as they move through life remembering her.
Life may not have always been the easiest for Gail, but she did everything she could to make it easier for those around her. She will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew her.
