With heavy yet grateful hearts, we celebrate the life of Gurmit Kaur Rai, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 84.
Gurmit was born in Dhaha, Punjab, on February 15, 1941, to her loving parents, Raja Singh and Dhan Kaur Phagura. As the youngest of five siblings, three brothers and one sister, she grew up surrounded by love, care, and strong family bonds that shaped her kind and nurturing spirit.
In 1966, Gurmit married Jarnail Singh Rai, beginning a beautiful marriage and partnership that spanned 42 years. Together, they build a life rooted in love, resilience, and devotion, rising their children Sweety, Babbu, and Tony to be independent, compassionate, and grounded in strong values. Gurmit was also a devoted and cherished grandmother to Jasmeet, Amninder, Namneet, Gurneet, Simrit, and Sumeet, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Gurmit will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her quite strength, and the deep love she gave so freely to those around her. Even in the face of life’s many challenges, she carried herself with grace, patience, and courage, offering comfort and wisdom to anyone who needed it.
Her memory will live on in our hearts, her love will continue to guide us, and her resilience will remain a lasting source of inspiration.
