Kirit Dharia

Kirit Dharia

With deep sorrow in our hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Shri Kirit Kirtanlal
Dharia on March 19 th 2026 in Calgary, Alberta Canada at the age of 81 years surrounded by family. He was a devoted husband, father, father in law, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.

Born on February 21 st 1945 in Mumbai, India to late Shri Kirtanlal Dharia and late Smt Kalaben Kirtanlal Dharia. He spent his early years in India studying and working. After moving to the United States as a young adult to pursue further studies he eventually made Canada his home and that is where he and his wife, Kalpana worked tirelessly to create a beautiful life for their family.

Professionally, he was a Mechanical Engineer and his work took him to many places from the far reaches of northern Alberta to Sardinia, Italy. He had a love of traveling but put aside those desires to instead reach professional milestones. He would often say he would use his later years to travel the world. His interests included bowling, reading, and chess but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Emre and Rohan who brought out a playful, joyful light within him.

He was a family man whose greatest intention was to see his children soar to their highest potential and he never stopped encouraging, guiding and protecting them. He saw great value in helping others and volunteered with civic minded organizations and within the engineering industry to influence the next generation.

He was a man of deep faith and remained connected to God through the temple and local Gujarati community. He remained connected to his Indian roots by traveling back to India often, devoted to his mother. He kept close relationships with his extended family both in the United States and India. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted wife, Kalpana Dharia, his son Raj Dharia, his daughter Bela Dharia (Doruk Ozgediz) his grandsons Emre and Rohan Ozgediz, his brother Pravin Dharia, (late Arunaben Dharia) & sisters, late Kusum Shah and late Manjula Kadakia.

As we mourn his loss we honor the legacy he leaves behind: a reminder to help those in need, to stay connected to family and to meet each day with bravery.

The cremation and Last Rites will be held at Country Hills Funeral Crematorium and Funeral Services in Calgary on Sunday March 22nd at 5:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers for the departed soul and his journey to the afterlife. Om Shanti. Donations may be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

We thank our friends and family for their tremendous support through this difficult time.
