Nirbhai Singh Kailay of Dugri, Malerkotla, Punjab, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of Amarjeet Kaur Kailay and a devoted father, grandfather, and community member. His funeral service will be held at Country Hills Crematorium.
Besides his loving wife, Nirbhai Singh Kailay is survived by his two sons, Manmohanjit S. Kailey and Rajwinder S. Kailey; daughters-in-law, Rupinder Kaur and Inderjit Kaur; and his cherished grandchildren, Gagan, Manreet, Harman, Bhavjit, Sehaj, and Jaiveer. He was predeceased by his parents, Sardar Sarvan Singh and Sardarni Nihal Kaur.
Our Dadaji was a constant source of warmth, strength, and guidance for his family. He
welcomed everyone into his home with a gentle smile and open arms, leaving a lasting
impression on all who knew him. In 1998, he immigrated to Calgary, Canada, to be with his
family, where he spent countless hours building close bonds with his grandchildren. Some of the family’s most treasured memories include time spent at the park, sharing stories, and watching him lovingly tend to his garden.
In Punjab, our Dadaji dedicated his life to education, athletics, and farming. He served as a physical education teacher and completed his formal training in Madras (Chennai). A passionate mentor, he profoundly influenced the lives of many students, several of whom continue to remember him fondly. He took great pride in assembling sports equipment kits for his students and was the recipient of numerous awards for his achievements in Kabaddi competitions. After settling in Calgary, our Dadaji remained deeply committed to serving the community. He was an active member of the Gurdwara committee, where he volunteered extensively and engaged in seva (selfless service), including organizing an annual service on behalf of the district of Sangrur.
Our Dadaji’s life was defined by humility, generosity, and unconditional love for his family and community. His legacy will live on through the values he instilled and the memories he created. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh.
