Arjoon “Sandy” Ramcharan of Calgary, Alberta passed away on May 26, 2021 at the age of 65 years after a short and difficult battle with cancer.
Sandy was born and raised in Trinidad before moving to Canada in 1976. In 1979, he travelled back to Trinidad and married Devika. Returning to Canada together, Sandy and Devika would go on to raise their three children. Sandy is known by many as a hard worker who loved his family deeply. After over two decades of working as a facility operator for the Calgary Board of Education, Sandy retired in October, 2020. In Sandy’s spare time, you could always find him fixing things or tinkering with them to make them better and playing music (loudly!). He always had a nice song to play for you.
Sandy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered as the son of Ramdhanie and the late Bissoondaye Ramcharan, husband of Devika Ramcharan of 41 years, father of Anita Hatton (Sean), Sabrina Van Gastel (Adam) and Victoria Ramcharan (Wayne Biffna), brother of Mohanlal Ramcharan (the late Sugan), Aroon “Krishna” Ramcharan (Vijanti), Gaitrie “Annie” Pherangee (Chanderdath “Chano”), Boodlal “Zimbo” Ramcharan (Judy), Chaitlal “Mukesh” Ramcharan and the late Mahendra Ramcharan, grandfather of Quinn Hatton, Rylen Ramcharan Bigelow and Tahj Biffna Ramcharan, as well as being a loving uncle and cousin to so many, and dear friend to many more. Additionally, Sandy was son-in-law to Leelawatie and the late Bisnath Boodram and brother-in-law to the late Anirudh “Kolo” Boodram (Shantie), Vishie “Muffet” Boodram, Padmini “Paddy” Boodram, Subhashni “Annie” Narinesingh (Sundar) and the late Avinash “Boywo” Boodram (Anjanie).
A Funeral Service will be held at Country Hills Crematorium (11995 16th Street NE, Calgary) on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 3:00pm. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so between 2:00pm and 2:45pm. Due to COVID restrictions maximum capacity is 20 people. We wanted to tell you how very sorry we are for your loss. This is an especially difficult time to lose a loved one. With having recently lost a loved one ourselves we felt saddened by the inability for all family and friends being able to attend a memorial service so everyone would have the Opportunity say goodbye. You’ll have many treasured memories to carry you forward.
My sincere condolences to you and your family, hugs ??
