Our hearts are aching with the loss of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Aklesh Cecil Prasad.  Aklesh passed away peacefully on December 25^th, 2021 at the age of 70 years.  His absence has left such a hole in our lives but we are learning to fill the sadness and pain with the beautiful memories he left behind.  He would want us to remember and celebrate him and to remember his kindness, gentleness and giving nature and not to be consumed by grief.

Aklesh left Fiji Islands in the early 70’s arriving alone, in Vancouver, and finally settling in Calgary where he started a family, brought his parents, many brothers and sisters from Fiji to Calgary and became a pillar in the Fiji-Indian Community.  He worked as a mechanic, became a semi-truck driver driving “a million miles baby” across Canada and The US and then finally opened his own vehicle repair shop.  In his retirement years he loved to travel, camp, quad, canoe and spend time with his family.  He was always mischievous, adventurous and full of fun and laughter.

Aklesh was a strong man who faced and overcame many obstacles and hardships in his life and was a fighter to the end.  He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle and friend to all.  He was always a family man.  Aklesh was a genius in his own right, a mechanical mastermind, father figure, mentor and friend to many.  Aklesh was skilled in so many ways and literally built his shop and home from the ground up.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and in-laws in England.  He leaves behind his wife Geeta, only son, Akesh/Jr, daughters Pamela (Adam) and Jasmine (Mark) and his two beautiful grandchildren William and Victoria.

For 70 years he lent an ear, smile and hand to anyone and everyone.  His hand reassured you and his smile took away your pain and worry, while his words always offered comfort.  We all miss you so much and words cannot express how grateful we are – for all you gave, sacrificed and did for us and others, even up to your last moments.  We love you and miss you and will always celebrate your life and live by your words of wisdom.  Even when you are gone we know you will watch over each of us and be there in spirit.  It is your time to rest now and may you continue to find joy and peace in your next adventures when you are “On The Road Again.”
