Arun K. Sood

June 26th, 1946 – May 7th, 2019

Arun was a gentle, kind-hearted soul who left a profound impact on anyone who crossed his path. He had a knack of connecting with people no matter the age and was a respected member and leader of the community and admired by all. For him, it all began with people – family and relationships and ended with a legacy. Not much for worldly goods, he left behind a treasure in the hearts of many. A shake of his hand, a look in his eye — his word was his bond and it stood for something.

Arun passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday May 7th, 2019 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. He was born on June 26th, 1946 in Nairobi, Kenya, the eldest son of the late Devinder Dass and Krishena Sood. He married the love of his life and soul mate, Raj on July 7th, 1973. Moving to Canada in 1975, he and his wife lived in Calgary and built a life together. Arun was loved by many and was a loving father, devoted husband, dutiful son and lifetime friend.

He is survived by his wife Raj (Nayar) Sood and his daughter Preeti Sood. He has a large extended family in Calgary/Edmonton (family and friends alike) and in all parts of the world who will dearly miss his presence.

The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to the exceptional medical staff of nurses, nursing aides, doctors, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists and all those in the ICU for their kindness, compassion, and unwavering care during his time in the hospital.
