September 16, 1965 – June 18, 2026
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Brent Kerstiens, beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend.
Born on September 16, 1965, Brent grew up in North Vancouver, BC. He pursued a career as a Public Health Inspector and made his home in Calgary, Alberta, where he served with Alberta Health Services until his retirement.
Beyond his career, Brent gave generously of his time to charitable organizations such as the Stampede City Progress Club, helping to raise numerous funds for a wide variety of causes including the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
But it was his family who were his greatest joy. He married his devoted and loving wife Jan in 1997 and their daughter Holly was born one year later. Brent was especially proud of Holly, her accomplishments and in the person she has become. Jan and Holly were the defining loves of his life and they were with him, by his side, in the last hours of his life.
Brent is survived by Jan and Holly and his sisters, Frances and Jacqueline. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Hennie Kerstiens.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

My heart goes out to you for your loss. He spoke so highly of Jan and Holly and he could not be more proud. He was my mentor 14 years ago when I first was a student at AHS and I am forever grateful for the experience, training, and kick start to my career. I will cherish the memories made. Sending my condolences to the family.
