Carol Stickler of Keoma, devoted wife of James Stickler passed away at the age of 76 years on Friday May 29th, 2020, at the Agape Hospice after a brief but courageous fight with cancer. Carol was born in Humboldt Saskatchewan to parents Otto and Laura Unger and moved to Calgary when she was young. Carol graduated from Mount Royal as a Registered Nurse, but soon gave that up when she marred James February 14th, 1960 and instead took on the role as a farmer’s wife. Beside James, Carol is survived by her Daughter Laura (Jeff) Himmelspeck, her Grandson James Himmelspeck, Brothers Fred (Jane) Unger, Doug Unger, Nephew Greg (Lorrie) Unger. Carol was predeceased by her Parents, Sister-in Law Marlene Unger, Father and Mother in-law Jack and Margaret Stickler and Brother and Sister In-Law Bert and Loretta Bradley. Carol will forever be remembered for her love of farm life and her beautiful gardens. She will also be forever treasured for her impact as an amazing Grandma, the role she enjoyed most. In light of the Covid-19 situation, there will be no service. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to both the staff at the Agape Hospice who cared so thoughtfully for her in her final week and Sandra Anderson and her team at the Foothills Hepatology department, who went above and beyond in both their care, and compassion for Carol. We also want to thank those who have donated blood, as this allowed her family to enjoy more time with her.
