Czeslaw (Chester) Wisniewski
January 6, 1946 – June 9, 2024
Czesław passed away peacefully in the early morning of Sunday June 9, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Janina, daughter Sandra Kachuik, son-in-law Derick Kachuik and their children Ava and Lucia, daughter Elizabeth Parsons, son-in-law Andrew Parsons and their children Kaleea and Abigail.
Czesław was born in Złotogłowice, Poland on January 6, 1946. He was the 2nd youngest of 11 children born to Antoni and Paulina Wisniewski.
Czesław was sponsored to Canada by his brother Michael to come and live with him in Montreal in 1972. In 1973, he connected with Janina, they married in May of 1974. In 1975 they had their fist daughter, Sandra. The family moved to Winnipeg where they had their 2nd daughter Ela in 1980. Soon after, they made a difficult decision to move westward away from their family to Calgary. Czesław and his family have been settled in Calgary for over 45 years where many of their friends have become like family.
As a designer draftsman for over 40 years in the oil and gas industry, he was very good at building and fixing anything out of nothing. He loved the guitar as he was in a band in his earlier years in Poland. He enjoyed business and politics as he was Mayor of his village at a tender age of 19. He enjoyed writing his annual poetic Christmas letters to his family oversees. Czesław loved the mountains and enjoyed hiking over 700 kms through the Rocky Mountains. He enjoyed landscaping, gardening, mushroom foraging, photography and travelling the world. He was always up for an adventure and a social gathering. More importantly he was a devoted family man who always put them first.
Czesław was always a strong, healthy and vibrant man. He remained optimistic and positive throughout his 16-month battle with Glioblastoma. May we all see life through rose-colored glasses as Czesław did.
Czesław will be deeply missed by his family and many close friends that him and Janina have made over the years.

I am so fortunate to be part of the Wisniewski family and have had the honour to know Uncle Chester for the past 12 years. I’m happy we could spend a good amount of time with him in his last few weeks. He was an energy and light in the family that will never be forgotten and so many stories of him and with him that will be told and repeated over and over. Love to the family and deepest sympathies. May He Rest in Peace.
