It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel James Miller announces his passing after a sudden illness at Foothills Medical Center on September 8, 2020 at the age of 44 years. Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 14 years, Karen and his daughter Natasha, by his parents Dianne and Jim Miller, by his in-laws Edward and Kathe Godsalve as well as numerous family members and friends. An outgoing, friendly and charismatic man, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends in two countries.
Daniel was born in Detroit, Michigan, where he grew up and graduated from Romulus High School in 1993. In 1996 he moved to Chicago where he lived and worked for six years before returning to Michigan. In 2004, Dan met his future wife, Karen Godsalve and then relocated to Calgary in 2006.
He worked in several professions throughout his life, including television post-production, printing and auto repair, but his main passion was music. He played in several bands in high school and after graduation. In 2002, he developed a passion for DJ’ing which he continued to do until his untimely passing.
A Celebration of Daniel’s Life will be held at later date.

My deepest condolences to Karen, Natasha and Dan’s family. I met Dan in Chicago while we worked for Borg-Warner. Dan was a consummate musician who appreciated all music genres. Dan’s genuine and caring nature was exemplified to his family and friends. Dan’s witty sense of humor along with his clever story-telling ability always made me laugh and will never be forgotten. I will miss you, bro. Thank you for being such an awesome friend.

We met Dan when he moved to Calgary many years ago. He was always a gentleman and a great guy. Our condolences to the whole family.
So very sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. I worked with Dan for a short time period and he proved to be a true friend and great co worker with an amazing sense of humour. He was always talking about Karen and Natasha with admiration and love. A truly bright soul who helped me through some tough times of my own. Condolences to your family.
I worked with Dan the entire time at City TV. I got to know him very well. I heard about his family and health struggles. I really cared about him. I know he trusted me. After being laid off I missed him. He spoke about Detroit and his family all the time. He raved about his daughter. He reached out in June, I’m so glad he did. I miss Dan. Dan was my friend. I pray for his wife and daughter. I hope to see them to tell them all the stories.
