David Patrick Swartzenberger

It is with great sadness that the family of David Patrick Swartzenberger born January 26, 1944 in Calgary Alberta at Holy Cross Hospital passed away February 20, 2025 in Calgary after a lengthy illness at age 81.
David attended school at University of Calgary studying Engineering.
He owned and operated various roofing companies over his 55 year career – Arte Roofing, Aaron’s Roofing and Skylights and the Roofing School being the most prominent.
His favourite thing to do was watch movies and relax at home with a big bowl of popcorn snuggling with his kitties. He was a huge movie buff and once created an entire movie catalogue complete with a movie graphic, plot, actors and run time.
David enjoyed working on business ideas and ventures. He enjoyed exploring opportunities and sketching out promotional ideas. Many, many small business ideas came from him as he explored new and different opportunities, always looking for the “next big thing” and developed quite a few over the years.
He had many favourite movies and songs. He was always whistling while he drove, tapping his hands on the steering wheel in time to the music. All of his family enjoyed hearing him whistle to various songs such as, “What a Wonderful World” and others
David’s favourite place to go on vacation was Mexico, however he also enjoyed a good Disney experience. He was a big Tinkerbell fan. He enjoyed many sweet treats but coconut ice cream was his go to when on holiday.
David is survived by his beloved partner of 44 years, Sharon; by two daughters, Catherine and Erin and; his two sons Ian and Russell; his nine grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan, Max, Thomas, Aidan, Pierce, Jade, Molly and Heidi all of whom he was very proud of and loved very, very much.
David is also survived by his sisters Irene and Violet, and his brother Richard. as well as numerous nieces, nephews, their families, and friends.
David was predeceased by his mother Lydia and father Pius Swartzenberger, his sister Alice Barr, & also several nephews & a niece.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Meow Foundation, AARCS Safe Haven – Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society, Calgary Drop-In Centre and the MAN VAN – Prostate Cancer Centre.
A Celebration Of Life will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Parkland Community Hall, 505 Park Valley Rd SE, Calgary, AB.

Dave will truly be missed. Not only was he a very good brother to me, but also my friend. We made so many memories together from the sixties on, and for sure I will cherish those memories with love. I know you were ready to move on Dave, and while you’re absence leaves a void in my heart and life, I am truly happy for you. Love ya!!!
