Dr. Manu Dua
We mourn the immense and unimaginable loss of Dr. Manu Dua. He fought a long and hard battle against cancer and left us on March 14th, 2021 at a young age of 34. He was a talented young man who was inspirational and highly accomplished. He was a perfectionist and always strived for the best in all aspects of his life. His eyes and laugh would light up the room. He found joy in playing sports, driving fast cars, building legos, reading and spending time with family and friends. A foodie, who loved exploring the best restaurants wherever he travelled and trying out recipes in his kitchen. Manu had an immense heart with a giving spirit. He was humble, kind and went above and beyond for everyone that he met. We are grateful for the time we had with him, our gift from God, on loan to us. His absence will be felt everyday for the rest of our lives. He is survived by his grandfather, parents, sister, brother in law, nephews, many uncles, aunts and cousins. Loved and eternally missed by Dua, Makkar and Uberoi families.
Funeral Ceremonies for Dr. Manu Dua will be held at Country Hills Crematorium & Funeral Services (11995 16th Street NE, Calgary) on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 3:00pm. Due to AHS restrictions, capacity is limited to 20 people. To view a live stream of Dr. Manu Dua’s Service, please follow this link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83586130378

My sincere condolences to all who were fortunate to have known Manu. Thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends.
Manu and I met at UBC and I always felt I got the better of the deal by having him as a friend. He was always in the back of my mind for the little things he taught me about approaching people and learning and of course cooking.
I went to dental school with Dr. Manu Dua. What I remember the most about Dr. Dua is how he always treated me with so much respect even though he was a senior to me. No matter how busy his schedule was he would always take time to chat with me, give me advice, inspire me, encourage me. He treated me like a brother and never asked for anything in return. His memory will live on forever with me and I will continue to spread the kindness that he had showed me.
Very sad to hear this news. Manu was a beacon of light in the dental community. He will continue inspire many young dentists to work hard and persevere. Prayers to his family and friends.

I was lucky enough to cross paths with Manu during dental school and remain friends thereafter. Every interaction with him put a smile on my face even on difficult days. He had a gift to see the bright side on things! I will always remember his easy smile, his positive outlook in life and his amazing baking skills. Rest in peace Manu! Until we meet again. My deepest condolences to his parents whom I met many years ago in Calgary.

Humorous and genuine person. Great fun on the street hockey team. Deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
I didn’t get the opportunity to know Manu well – if at all but I was fortunate enough to cross paths when he was at UBC. I was teaching the fourth year students how to extract a tooth on a community outreach and he came up to me introduced himself and I couldn’t help but think how excited he was to be there. He was present, engaged and very polite. A few years later I met him at a party in Calgary and he came up to me introduced himself and said you wouldn’t remember me but I was one of the students you taught. When i said of course and said his name his eyes lit up and I remember walking away and thinking you never know how profound or significant the smallest of interactions can be. I honestly thought our paths would cross again and I wondered for almost a year how he was doing. I had no idea that he was quietly enduring the weight of everything on his shoulders. Sending him love, light, and prayers.
So sorry to hear of your loss, Gulshan and Rashmi. You are in our thoughts.
I’m shocked at how unfair it is that this brilliant, kind man was taken from so many people who loved him. He was my dentist– I never imagined the loss of my dentist would make me feel so sad, but Manu was just such a gentle and giving man. He took such good care of his patients, and he helped my daughter when she chipped her tooth at 17 months old and I was a nervous wreck. He went to the trouble of emailing me back despite it being the weekend, assuring me it would be okay and setting up a paediatric visit with an excellent colleague. I admired his commitment to helping then, but now I am even more floored since he had so much more on his plate than I was aware of. He was truly kind…. his warmth, his friendliness, his lovely smile will all be deeply missed, even by those of us who had only small encounters with him. He left a mark, and he will be remembered. To his dear parents and brother, I am so, so very sorry for your immense loss.
To us,He was MANU as a son. We have known him since he was a young teenager.,very friendly, kind, polite, sincere and respectful and a extremely responsible person. He enriched our lives and from time to time made special recipe treats for us family friends. Our deepest condolences for the family. MANU will be remembered dearly and missed tremendously.
Dear Reshmi and Gulshan, we were so saddened to hear about Manu’s passing. We have fond memories of spending time together on a houseboat in BC many summers ago. We loved seeing him grow into a young man, respected dentist and a person who enjoyed life. Our heartfelt condolences
Sending our deepest condolences to Manu’s family. We shared the same birthday but never imagined how life could get cut so short. I will alway remember how we celebrated together. Rest In Peace.
I was a patient of Manu’s. He was gentle and kind as a practitioner but more so just seemed like a great guy I would’ve enjoyed hanging out with socially. I’m not in the same field but work in a healthcare related area. When I had a non-standard issue, he reached out to his professional network and got me excellent help immediately. I lost my mom in the past month and understand how much harder the pandemic makes a loss right now. My sincerest condolences to Manu’s family. He was a great guy
It is an unbelievable loss and I am so sad to see that Dr Manu lost his battle with Cancer. He is in Heaven right and I pray for his extended family,

Dr. Dua was an incredibly gentle, charismatic, and joyful person to be around. Even though our encounters were for a short period of time, he always was such a bright light during our visits. I never had one indication that things weren’t right with him and I wish I could have told him how much he meant to our family. My kids adored him and liked telling jokes with him. We got a puppy around the same time as he did so my kids loved seeing the puppy in his office. He will be missed in the community and I feel blessed to have known him for a short time. Rest in peace and may God give his family the strength to cherish the time they had with him and know how incredibly loved he was by so many.

MANU was an exceptional, talented and business minded individual. Too young, too smart and too motivated to leave us so early. See you at the crossroads.
I went to school with Manu and he was always a fighter in the face of challenges. He was kind and would go out of his way for others, and it was a privilege to have been his friend. It was terrible that Manu had to deal with such an incredible struggle, but I know he fought hard and lifted the spirits of his friends and family right until it was time to go. My condolences to the Dua family. Manu will be missed.

Dearest Manu Bhai, it pains me, dad, mum and my brother to know that you have been taken away from us so early. You leave behind a legacy – your wisdom beyond your years will always resonate through your memories and your blog. It feels so unfair but I will keep solace in the fact that you were God’s loved child and he wanted you back earlier and today you are in God’s arms. We love you – till we next meet.
Dear Rashmi aunty, Gulshan uncle & Parul. I remember seeing Manu for the first time as a 5 month old beautiful bub, with a smile that melted hearts. While we haven’t been in regular touch, we have always cherished the times we spent together in Abu Dhabi. Our hearts are broken to know dear Manu – the boy with the golden smile – was taken so soon. Words will never be enough to console you, for he has left a void that can never be filled. Thinking of you all & praying you find the strength to cope with your loss. Rest In Peace dearest Manu.

Manu was an amazing giving dentist whom I was able to first meet when he volunteered at the CUPS Dental Clinic in Calgary as an undergraduate student at U of C and was trying to get into Dental School. He would come down on Saturdays in his spare time and selflessly help our clinic. I will miss his smiling face and laughter and badminton games. Love you man!!!

Memory of the celebration of Manu’s new dental office
Dr. Dua truly was one of a kind and is greatly missed. He was funny, had great attention to detail when working on his patients, caring and very generous. I have never had a dentist call me on the weekend to check in on my tooth. Dr. Dua did just that. He knew I had anxiety and wanted to make sure I was recovering well. Heart of gold. His heart was not only kind but generous when he sponsored me to go and compete on a world stage in Los Angeles in a bodybuilding competition. I do not have enough words to thank him. We miss you Dr. Dua .
