In loving memory of my beautiful Aaji (Grandma)
Your smile brightened my entire world, your kindness and love was so special. You had a special bond with each and everyone. I remember our special moments together, your stories, you singing us lokgeets, your jokes and more importantly you trying to put a smile on our faces. You would make special treats for us after school like coconut barfi.
Your hands were Gods’ gift that would heal my every wound followed by Aaji’s special head massage. I always reflect on your advice to me, but more importantly, I have learnt a lot observing you and what a strong, respectful lady you were, things that no degree or masters can teach like ‘attithi devo bhava’ (guests are God), how to respect each other and to value relationships no matter how big or small they are.
I remember those scary hurricane days in Fiji, and you would give shelter to everyone in your home. Nothing felt more safe and comforting than to be in your presence.
All of us ‘Vatiyaka’ kids would always seek your blessings in any of our toughest battles and no matter what you would be doing, you would drop everything to be there for us and always showered us with your love and blessings and regardless of the outcome I knew I won in life.
You made lots of sacrifices and I watched you take such great care of Aaja (Grandpa) and stood by him and became his strength. Just one of the many examples of the exemplary woman you were.
Although you have left this world, you leave behind your legacy of love, kindness and beautiful memories that will live with us forever. Your name will be carried forward by your first par-potin (great granddaughter), Dhiyanshi Gita Chand (daughter of Usha and Divesh Chand).
Today I bow down to you one more time and seek your blessings. Thank you for all you have done. I will cherish your love always.
My prayers are for you Aaji, may you attain moksha. Om shanti, shanti shanti. 🙏🌸 💕

Dear family, friends and well wishers of our beloved Nani.
Ram Ram to you all!
Dear Naani,
God has picked the most beautiful and fragrant flower of our family. We all know that you are with God and listening to us and must be giving abundance of blessings from there.
We are all heartbroken to hear about your passing away. Our family has lost a priceless jewel, and the only thing that remains with us is your special memories with us. Your journey has inspired us to be righteous and stay humble and kind to all human beings. You were a symbol of kindness. Always helping everyone in our family, women in the Vatiyaka community, and welcoming all guests with warmth. You served everyone with grace, respecting all generations and effortlessly connecting with people of every background. Your strength through life’s challenges was truly inspiring.
I will always cherish those wonderful moments of my childhood when we used to visit our Naanis place, and Naani used to prepare delicious food and feed us. As I grew and became a teacher, Naani accompanied me for 1 week with my first year of teaching at Namata Indian School, and she enjoyed making friends with teachers and my head teacher as well. The most wonderful moment was when Naani made a visit to Fiji in 2023 after 17 years all thanks to Bobby Mama, Mami, Neha jiji and Rohan bhaiya. She embraced her great grandchildren and spent quality time with us in Fiji.
Dear Naani, the stories you shared will forever stay with us. You taught us how to remain strong and compassionate, no matter the hardships. Your legacy of love, respect, and resilience will live on in all of us.
Rest in peace, Naani. You will be deeply missed💐🕉🙏❤️

Dear Nani,
As I sit in Fiji, thousands of miles away from you, my heart aches knowing I cannot be there to bid you farewell in person. You were the cornerstone of our family, a beacon of love, wisdom, and strength. Your stories, your laughter, and your steadfast support have shaped me into the person I am today.
I remember the times we spent together—the warmth of your embrace, the lessons you imparted, and the traditions you upheld. Your legacy is one of strength and compassion, and I am honored to be your granddaughter.
Though distance separates us, my love and respect for you transcend any ocean. I find solace in the memories we’ve shared and the values you’ve instilled in me. Your spirit will continue to guide me, and I will strive to make you proud in all that I do.
Rest in peace, Nani. You will forever remain in our hearts.Deepest sympathy from grandson in law Atish Chand, granddaughter Preeti Chand and great grandchildren Ansh and Misthi
Sita Ram to everyone!
Aji – my whole childhood is flashing in front of my eyes as we grieve your loss. Though your physical presence may be gone, the memories we created, the lessons you taught us and the love you shared will forever remain woven into the fabric of our family.
From the day I was born, my grandmother’s love enveloped me like a warm embrace. She was always there when I needed a hug or a shoulder to cry on, offering the gentlest of touches and the warmest of smiles. Her love for her family was boundless and taught me the true meaning of unconditional love.
Aji, you brought me up and took care of me while mom was at work. I will forever remember how you made sure we were always fed. Aji you were the most resilient women I knew, the way you care of Aja in he’s final days. I remember how your room smelled, and it was the most comforting smell. The eggs you would collect to cook for me, the homemade fries you made for me. You ran behind me with a glass of milk whenever I was about to miss my school bus making sure I didn’t go to school hungry. I will cherish 17 years of my life with you.
Aji, your absence leaves a void no one else can fill. But in our hearts and stories, you are immortal. On behalf of my heart, our family, and anyone who has had the privilege of knowing you—I thank you; I celebrate you.
Love from Granddaughter – Sonam, Grandson in law – Ashish and great grandson -Arnav.
Om Shanti.
