Gurdarshan Singh Grewal passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 20th, 2022 at the age of 92 years in Calgary, Alberta.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ranjit Kaur Grewal and survived by his children; son Pritpal Grewal (spouse Harbans Grewal), daughter Parminder Gill (spouse Tapinder Gill), daughter Sharanjit Bassi (spouse Kamalprit Bassi) and his grandchildren; Pawanpreet Grewal (spouse Sahiba Grewal), Raman Gill (spouse Raman Gill), Jessy Gill (spouse Satinder Gill), Amul Bassi, Shaleen Bassi and great grandchildren Harnaaz Grewal, Aziz Grewal and Mahaan Gill.

Gurdarshan Singh Grewal was born on January 5th, 1930 in Daudpur, Pakistan. Following partition, he and his family settled in Ludhiana, Punjab in 1947. At the age of 20 he married Ranjit Kaur in Heran, Ludhiana, Punjab. He studied at Khalsa Collage in Ludhiana and worked as a school teacher in New Delhi for 30 years. He then immigrated to Canada with his family in 1990.

Growing up he was passionate about sports and athleticism. One of his biggest achievements was that he had beat a marathon record in Punjab in 1954. He will always be fondly remembered for his strength, humility and kind and generous spirit.

Funeral Ceremonies will be held at COUNTRY HILLS CREMATORIUM & FUNERAL SERVICES, 11995 16 Street NE on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
