In Loving Memory of our Beeji, Harjit Kaur Grewal

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Beeji, who passed away peacefully at the age of 92 while surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Beeji was born to Sawan Singh Sidhu and Bachan Kaur Sidhu on September 1st, 1932 in Raipur, Punjab, India. She was the second oldest of 5 children and after spending the first 17 years of her life in Raipur as a loving Sister & Daughter, she married Sardar Hardev Singh Grewal (Papaji) in 1950 and began her journey as a caring and loving Wife and Mother. Together, they had 3 children, and spent the first 19 years of their married life living in different parts of India (Punjab, Calcutta, Siliguri) due to Papaji’s Businesses and Military Service. In 1969, they came and settled in Gopalpur, Punjab, where Beeji would spend the next 23 years of her life continuing to raise her family. In 1992, Beeji immigrated and settled in Calgary, Canada. From there began the most fulfilling chapter of her life, one that saw her be a loving Grandmother and later in life, a joyful and loving Great-Grandmother.

Beeji will be remembered as a kind-hearted, caring, and selfless person who spent her life devoted to her family. She preached values and good intentions to all she came around. She was the strength of our family, and until the very end she showed her courage and strong mental fortitude. Above all, she loved her family and even in her last moments, she prayed to Waheguru for the good health and happiness of us all.

Beeji was preceded in death by Papaji, in 2021. She is survived by her 3 Children: Sarabjeet Kaur Grewal, Amarjit Singh Grewal (Jatinder Kaur Grewal), Kamaljit Singh Grewal (Girija Grewal); 2 Grandchildren: Rajveer Singh Grewal (Jasman Kaur Grewal), Karanveer Singh Grewal; and 3 Great-Grandchildren: Arjan Singh Grewal, Karam Singh Grewal, Sahara Kaur Grewal.

She will be immensely missed by our entire family. She may be gone but her memories will continue to live on in our hearts and minds, and we will forever cherish the time we were blessed to have with her. Her teachings will be passed onto generations to come in our family, and we take solace in knowing that she is now at peace. The Grewal family appreciates the love and support of all friends and family during this difficult time, as we say our final goodbyes to our beloved Beeji.

Rest in Peace Beeji, we love you forever.
