Jamie McLaughlin passed away at home on August 13th, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jamie was 47.
Jamie is predeceased by his father, Gerald and brother, Jerome. Left to carry his memory
are his Wife, Melissa; Sons Ryder and Brodie; Mother, Dorothy; Mother and Father-in-law, Wayne and Allison Champion; Brother’s in law, Matthew Champion and Brent Coffin, as well as a large circle of extended family, friends and coworkers. Jamie was born on June 14th, 1975 in Grand Falls Windsor, Newfoundland. In Jamie’s earlier years he loved dirt bikes, his white Oldsmobile Cutlass and racing
snowmobiles competitively.
After finishing high school Jamie moved to Calgary in 1996. He then started working for
Volker Stevin which he did for 25 years. He was indeed a simple man. He enjoyed most of his time spent with his family, listening to music, watching hockey, movies and reruns of Friends. Most of all his greatest pride were his two sons. He was a hard worker and had a passion for home improvement and woodworking. He also enjoyed being in competition with his neighbours for having the greenest most well kept lawn. Jamie looked forward to planning and having family vacations each year during both the
winter and summer months. Those closest to him knew he was genuinely a good man with a great sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service and Gathering will be held at Country Hills Crematorium on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Safyia Karim from the Tom Baker Cancer Center, Dr. Sean McFadden from the Foothills Medical Centre. All the Doctors and nursing staff of unit 46 and 62 as well as the Palliative home care team.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Red Cross.

Condolences is with you all during this great loss to your family. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
I loved and will miss getting messages from Jamie , starting of always by saying “ hey my dear” what’s ya address again. Lol and of course the joking back and forth about our favourite hockey teams trying to get into the playoffs.
My heart is broken just knowing and thinking about you all. I loved him as my brother and loved him dearly. While we lived in Lloydminster making our trips to visit you guys in Calgary was the best think about living away from NL and our families. We still had you guys close by.
Love you and sending big hugs to you all.

Although I cannot understand what you are going through, I can tell you that I am thinking and praying for you and your family.
You have always been a super positive and happy person, I’m sure that was due in part to Jamie.

I’m so sorry for your loss, your husband which I will always remember fondly as “TOOTS” was such a bright light in the darkness, he had witty comments, mild manners and a heart of gold. He was loved by many and it only feels like yesterday since I saw him. My heart goes out to you and your boys.
