With heavy hearts, we have to announce the passing of Jill Margaret Wilson, 56, of Calgary, AB. She passed after a long battle with cancer at the Foothills Medical Centre surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. Jill was a fighter, resilient and strong. She fought the battle with grace and dignity beyond what any person can imagine or ask of another. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ken; her son, Jason (Brandi); her daughter, Lisa (Kit); her grandchildren, Benjamin, Jenna, Kathrine, Jesse and Alex; her brother, Roy (Lisa); and all her nieces and nephews. Jill was born on May 21, 1960 at the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Edmonton, AB. She was the eldest child of her parents, Andy and Anne Kampen. Her brother, Roy, was born a few years later. They lived in St. Albert until 1980 when her husband, Ken’s job got transferred to Calgary. They lived together in Calgary ever since. Jill was extremely active in her community, in the AUPE Union, and in the Teddy for a Toonie campaigns hosted by ATB. She was the person you could turn to when you needed an ear to listen. She was active with her husband, Ken, in the hockey community, and attended many of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was well loved and respected by all and will be eternally missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Country Hills Crematorium, 11995 – 16 Street NE, Calgary, AB, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation at http://www.cbcf.org/central/GetInvolved/Donate/Pages/default.aspx. Thank you.

I am so sorry for the loss of Jill. She was a vibrant, fun loving woman that the people she worked with, along with the customers quickly grew to love. She was one of the strongest, bravest people I have ever had the pleasure to know. Not one day went by that she was more concerned about herself than of the others around her. My condolences to her family. Rest easy Jill, you will be deeply missed xox

“Oh, Giseeelle…”– That was the phrase Jill would often let out whenever I would forget doing a task at the branch. She was always a gentle and kind mentor. We worked together for 9 months and I am glad I did. I often wondered how she was doing after leaving the branch. She will be missed. Praying for comfort and peace at this time..
