John Geoffrey Condon

December 25, 1930 – May 3, 2026

John Geoffrey Condon, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and veteran, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born on Christmas Day, 1930, in Grays, Essex, John was the firstborn son of John Samuel Condon and Mabel Sarah Condon, and grew up alongside his two brothers, Roy and Paul.

In 1949, John answered the call to serve, enlisting as a stoker mechanic in the Royal Navy. Over the course of his service, John served aboard three ships before being honourably discharged in 1951 – a chapter of his life he carried with quiet pride.

It was in that same year that John met the love of his life, Jose Marie. The two married and welcomed their first daughter, Joy, in 1952. With a young family and the spirit of adventure, John and Jose made the decision to immigrate to Canada, building a new life in Toronto.

Their second daughter, Sharon, was born in 1957 and their son Jeffrey followed a decade later. In the mid-70s, the family moved to Calgary.

John built his career in warehousing, retiring as a warehouse superintendent in 1992. In retirement, he and Jose traded the routine of daily life for the open road, spending their early retirement years travelling across Canada and the United States by RV. They eventually settled back in Calgary, where family remained the centre of their lives until Jose’s passing in 2007.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jose, his parents John and Mabel and brothers Roy and Paul.

He is survived by his three children, Joy (Steve), Sharon, and Jeffrey (Marie), his cherished grandchildren, Michelle, Samantha, Shane, Colin, Joey and Olivia, and his great grandchildren Kai, Maxx, Rosie, Clara, Zev and Leo.

John lived a life defined by service, resilience and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew him.
