It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the peaceful passing of John Gunter on June 11, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 80.

Born on July 22, 1944, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, John was a man of warmth, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. He spent two decades with the Hudson’s Bay Company, honing his craft in the food and beverage department. His passion for hospitality and business led him to own and operate numerous ventures across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia—always seeking new opportunities and challenges with enthusiasm.

John was a devoted father and proud grandfather. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jennifer King (Tony), and his grandsons, Caleb and Jaden, who brought him endless joy. One of John’s greatest pleasures in life was sharing good food and conversation with those he loved, and he continued to enjoy dinners out with his family right up to his final days.

John’s legacy is one of resilience and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
