Karam Singh Dhillon

December 1st, 1926 – September 28th, 2020

The patriarch of our family, Sardar Karam Singh Dhillon, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28th, 2020 at the Foothills Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born in 1926, in the village of Kotli, District Jalandhar, Punjab, India. He was happily married to Jit Kaur for 73 wonderful years having raised three children, Arvinder, Kulwinder and Jasvir. In that time, Karam Singh and his wife focused on raising the prospects of their entire family and helped sow the seeds of prosperity for generations to follow.

As a self-made man, Karam Singh retired after 42 years as a high-ranking Tahsildar and moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1985. Once settled with his family, Karam Singh made great contributions to the local Sikh community. He became involved in the founding of the Martindale Gurudwara and was honored to serve as its first Treasurer. He was avidly involved in raising his 8 grandchildren and in later years, his infectious smile would light up whenever he was able to play with any of his 11 great-grandchildren.

His family will always remember and celebrate the warmth of his humble nature, his tenacious heart, and the lessons he has taught us in bringing humility and purpose to all matters that life presents.

Funeral Services will be held at the COUNTRY HILLS CREMATORIUM located at 11995 – 16 Street NE on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow.
