Kazimierz (“Casey”) Gorski of Calgary passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on December 22, 2022, at the age of 75 years after a far-from-perfect journey through cancer.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Kristine (Greg) Thompson, Cassandra Gorski (Thorben Schulz), and Adam Gorski; his grandchildren Jayna, Tyler, Audrey, Myles and Gavin; his grand-dogs Oscar and Tuko; and his siblings, Joseph Gorski, Anne Karlsen, John Gorski and Mary Miernik. Kazimierz was predeceased by his mother and father, Maria and Edmund Gorski,
and sister, Theresa Chapman. He was born in Brenelle, France on January 21, 1947. His family then moved back to their home in Wagrowiec, Poland until the family immigrated to Canada on June 12, 1958, on the M.V. Batory. The family settled in Sarnia, Ontario. Kazimierz relocated with his family in 1975 to Calgary, Alberta. Kazimierz earned the trade of a Master Carpenter in Sarnia, Ontario alongside his father and continued his craft in Calgary until he retired at the age of 64 years due to his health.
He was an adventurer and loved the outdoors. He particularly liked to hunt and fish and loved sharing stories of his adventures with everyone around him. He particularly enjoyed watching CNN and arguing politics with anyone that would bite, while enjoying his Tim Hortons. Kazimierz will be remembered for his zest for life and fun-loving nature. His big laugh was infectious, and he made fast friends wherever he went. He did not want a service but wanted to be remembered with smiles and laughter instead of tears.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead donate to the Calgary Food Bank – a charity that was particularly close to Kazimierz.
His heart of this world may have failed but his spirit was stubbornly strong.
