On Monday, July 25th, 2022, our beloved Laine passed away at the age of 30 years in Cochrane, AB. Laine was a sensitive and quick-witted young man with diverse interests and passions. Throughout his life he excelled at sports, particularly soccer and running track, but most recently pickleball. A passionate cook and photographer, his love of artistic pursuits lead him to learn the banjo. On Friday nights he could be found playing board games and video games with close friends.
Born July 3rd, 1992, he was the eldest child of Darren & Lorelei, and big brother to Reece. He was the first grandchild of Ernie & Eileen Stefanyshyn of Springside, SK, and Gerald & Pat Henshaw of Calgary, AB. Adventurous and daring, he enjoyed growing up with many cousins in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He was a gifted student, graduating from John G. Diefenbaker High School in 2010 and from SAIT with a diploma in Engineering Technology in 2017.
An insightful listener, Laine touched the hearts of those he encountered on his arduous journey. For his sense of humor, intellect, loyalty, and compassion he will be dearly missed; may his influence never be forgotten.

Lorelei…Our deepest condolences to you and your family. We had the pleasure of knowing Laine from Pickleball and will always remember his enthusiasm and engaging sense of humour and sportsmanship. We knew him for only a short time but will never forget him.
Lorelei I am so sorry for the lose of your lovely son. I am saddened that he will not get to finish his life, and that you and your family will feel the empty space where he should have been. I am thinking of you and him.
Lorelei, Reese, Darren and Norbert,
We wanted to let you know how sad we were to hear of Laine’s passing. From the first moment that he and Daniel connected in grade 3 until the last time that we saw him, we considered him to be a part of our family. Who could resist those mischievous blue eyes and that ear-to-ear smile? Like many people who spoke at Laine’s service, we so enjoyed his irreverent sense of humor. He was a force of nature and will be sorely missed. Know that we are thinking of you, and are sending love your way. 💕
