Lany Yeuk Lan Woo

Lany Yeuk Lan Woo, 87, of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2025. She was born on November 25, 1939 in Guangzhou China.
Lany was a beloved mother to her 4 children Teresa (Borick), Peter (Angel), Magdalene, and Lucy (Leon). A devoted grandmother to Jadine (Mark), Jason (Kim), Cordelia, Devin, Shauna, Steven, Kevin (Angie) and Jordan. Her memories will be passed on to her great grandchildren Quinn, Isla, Emmett and Pierce. Lany is also survived by her youngest brother Chris (Theresa) and oh so many nieces and nephews.
Lany, Mrs. Woo, Popo was known to many through her Volunteer work and dedication to her community. Together with her husband, Lany volunteered for a span of 50 years with public schools, community events as well as political campaigns. She has a genuine love of gab and her openness of self and home has endeared her to many.
Although Lany grew up as a young girl in privileged surroundings and spoiled by everyone around her, she faced life’s tough challenges head on. In 1972, with her husband and 4 young children in toll, she immigrated to Canada to allow her children an opportunity for a better future. From not knowing how to boil water in her first months of marriage, Lany worked at restaurants, dry cleaners and long hours operating a fast food kiosk but at the same time, making sure her evenings and weekends were at home with her family.
