It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Narayani Achal on September 29th, 2023 at the age of 85. She entered her final rest peacefully and surrounded by her loving family.
Marj was born in Suva, Fiji to Rama and Parvati Nair on February 6th, 1938. As a child, she excelled in school and grew passionate about helping others, which led her into a long and happy career in nursing. When Marj met Jay, they quickly fell in love and married. Striving for a bigger life beyond Fiji, Marj and Jay made the move to Wolverhampton, England, where they would welcome their two children, Stephen and Christopher. Their final move brought them to beautiful Calgary, Alberta, which became their permanent home. This is where Marj had the pleasure of seeing her family expand and flourish.
Marj was the matriarch of our family, the glue that held us together. She never knew exactly how many people would be at her dinner table but rest assured, there was always an open seat and a warm meal for anyone who came. She will be remembered for her love of travel, sharp mind, giving spirit, fierce independence and unconditional love
Marj is survived by her husband Jay; sister Susan (George); sons Stephen (Penny) and Christopher (Karen); grandchildren Roshan (Jordan), Siena, Erick (Emily), Jenessa (Joel), Rhyan, Adele, Mikayla and Gemma; great granddaughters Esther and Oakland; countless family members and in the hearts of all the lives she’s touched. She was most recently predeceased by her grandson Sanjay.

Chris, Karen and the Achal families…… We are so very sorry for your loss. You will forever have this special “Angel” watching over all of you. Gain strength from all the loving memories that have been made together. We have some other family committments on Sunday so are unable to attend the service. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers during this time. Love, Darlene, John Ready and families
