Monika Venthien-Schubert, 77, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away June 28, 2026
after a very courageous, but short battle with cancer.
Monika is survived by her loving husband, Otto Schubert, her son, Martin
Schubert, daughter-in-law, Susan Schubert, and family members, Emily, Cas and
Jordan Martin.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father Heinz Venthien, and mother Heidi
Venthien-Hesse of Hamburg, Germany.
Talented, sportive, and creative, Monika excelled at a wide variety of pursuits.
Through her passion for gardening and love for ballroom dancing, she personified vibrancy and grace.
She was also a fitness instructor at the YWCA, and Bonsar Community Centre in
Vancouver.
Monika was a devoted 16-year member of TOPS (Varsity). Chapter members have
lost a dear friend, a lovely lady and a very special person.
She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by family and friends. The world
is a sad place now for all who knew and loved her, in Canada and abroad.
We are deeply grateful to Arthur Child Cancer Centre for Monika’s compassionate
care.

I am so saddened by the loss of Monika. She brought so much kindness and warmth into the world, and she will be deeply missed. Sending my love and deepest condolences to her family. Otto and Martin, we are thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace during this difficult time.
