MR. BARRY PHILLIP ROBBINS of Calgary, Alberta passed away at Rockyview General Hospital on December 9th, 2022 at the age of 89 years. Barry was a native Calgarian, born in Calgary’s Holy Cross Hospital on June 28, 1933. He attended McDougal and Connaught Public schools as well as Western Canada High School and Mount Royal College in the city of Calgary. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Engineering and from the University of Alberta with a Master of Science Degree in Geology. From the 1950’s onwards Barry was employed in the oil patch with Texaco Exploration Inc, Hudson’s Bay Oil and Gas Ltd. and Pan Canadian Petroleum as an exploration geologist (P.GEOL.) throughout his career. He was a life member of APEGA and an Emeritus member of CSPG and an Emeritus member of both CSPG and AAPG.
Barry had a passion for exotic places and traveled extensively throughout the world but one of the places he loved most was the family cottage on Quadra Island B.C. He was an avid salmon Fisherman and his affection for the Quadra Island Area lasted for well over 50 years. Barry was predeceased by his father George in 1999 and hismother Irene in 2003. He will be remembered by many friends and relatives and at his request no formal funeral service will be held following cremation.
