Mr. Fernando Antonio Ponce

March 13, 1959 – Valparaiso, Chile
February 9, 2024 – Calgary, Canada

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Fernando Ponce, who departed from this world on February 9, 2024. A pillar of strength, wisdom, and unwavering love, he leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on March 13, 1959, Fernando lived a life guided by integrity, humility and dedication to his family and close friends. He was a loving father to Claudia, Cesar, Lidia, Monica and Fernando. An older brother to Jorge, Eliette, Lidia and Fernando. An uncle to Eliette, Jorge, Emilio, Fernando, Jose, Dominique, Rodrigo, Anais and Fernanda. A loving grandfather to Adrian, Tatiana, Chelsea, Amelia, Colby, Quincy and Rhaea. He was a brother in-law to Dominique, Rodrigo and Leno. A father in-law to Raul, Martin and Stephanie. He was a son to Lidia and Fernando. His love knew no borders or bounds, and his wisdom was a guiding light through life’s challenges.

Fernando instilled in his children and grandchildren the values of strength, humour, love, acceptance and perseverance. He took immense pride in the accomplishments and happiness of his children, finding joy in every milestone and triumph that they achieved. He will be fondly remembered by a wide circle of friends, whose lives he touched throughout his years in Chile and Canada.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched with his loyalty, love and humour. May he find eternal peace and rest, surrounded by the love of those who went before him, and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.

It is with GREAT SADNESS to hear that Fernando has passed.
He was quite the character (larger than life at times), and always made us a laugh (with that side eye look).
Knowing Fernando, he’s probably raising ALL HELL (in a good way) up there!
    May he rest in peace.
Sending our prayers and condolences to the Family.
With Love & Hugs Sandy & Cesar XOXO

My thoughts are with the Ponce family. Your father was a generous man. Our time together was precious and he will live in all of our hearts always 💕

I wanted to share this poem in hopes that it can provide some comfort during this difficult time. It is titled – “Memories”.

Life can never stay the same
    No matter how we try
    Our hands can never stop
The clock of life from ticking by
    But love remains, unchanging
In the care of sorrowing hearts
For as the love of life is stilled
    The love of memory starts
