John was born in Itogon, Benguet and was the third of seven children. With a big family, life was always full of love and laughter with its share of squabbles.

While attending Adamson University in Manila, John joined the brotherhood of Alpha Phi Omega (APO). He also became the President of BIBAK-Adamson. These 2 groups were where John created life-long bonds.

John, Rhoda and their children migrated to Calgary in August 1994 to start their new life in Canada. In 1996, John became the first President of BIBAK-Calgary Chapter.

He was diagnosed with Colon cancer in 2009.

John will be remembered for his strong personality and contagious sense of humor. Most of all, he will be missed for his unlimited generosity which made him well-loved, as people would often seek him out in times of need. John took on challenges fearlessly which helped him with his 15 year battle with cancer.

We thank his family Dr. Lily Toma, Oncologist Dr. Xio Lian Feng for their compassionate care.
