October 5, 1931- Neuanlage, Saskatchewan – March 23, 2023 Calgary, Alberta
John Fehr, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away after a brief stay at the Foothills hospital at the age of 91 years.
John’s early years were spent in the farming communities around Saskatoon. He was a farm hand, foundry worker, lumber jack, and for the majority of his working career a sheet metal mechanic. John graduated in the late 60’s from SAIT and became a journeyman sheet metal mechanic. Most of John’s career was spent working for Alberta Government Services until his retirement in 1990.
John met Mary Klassen in 1953 in front of a department store in downtown Saskatoon. Within four months they were married and remained totally devoted to each other. John lived for Mary and Mary lived for John, a love that burned bright until Mary passed away. Mary and John lived in Saskatoon, then Kindersley and on to Calgary while raising five children. Retirement in 1990 brought Mary and John to a series of moves; Cranbrook, Creston, Calgary, Strathmore, Cranbrook for a second spin and eventually back to Calgary in 2012. During those golden years of retirement John could be found on the local golf course or at the local curling rink where both Mary and John threw rocks with much skill and passion. A passion John kept as an avid fan of any kind of curling until his final days. John was a simple man with few words. He was kind, gentle and respectful to all he came across in his 91 years of life. John’s main joy in life was spending time with Mary and he never fully recovered after losing her. They are together again. A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Scenic Acres Community Centre from 6:00pm to 8:00pm
on April 2, 2023. Family and friends are invited to drop in. To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.countryhillscrematorium.com
