In loving memory of Mario, a husband, father and a grandfather who peacefully passed away on November 25, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 76.
Mario was born on February 1, 1947, in Manila, Philippines, and in April 1966, he joyfully united in marriage with the love of his life, Clarita Torres, marking the beginning of a beautiful chapter. Mario embarked on a journey that led him to Calgary in 1971, where he embraced a fulfilling career with CP Rail. Blessed with three exceptional daughters, Mary (Gigi) (Shannon Bouchard), Carolina (Roy Tupkal) and Dianna (Humberto Vieira), Mario’s life became a canvas painted with smiles and cherished memories. His legacy extended to five grandchildren; Krystle, Andrew and Ashly Brieger, Nigel and Jonas Vieira.
Mario shared many memories with his sisters; Magdalena Mendoza and Carolina Gutierrez Jabrica along with his nieces; Rachelle and Carmina (Joy) and nephews; Hector, Ramonn and Ian.
Beyond Mario’s professional achievements, he adored the Beatles and embraced diverse music genres, reveling in rich musical tapestry and finding solace and joy in his love for music. A skilled drummer, Mario shared his passion with others as a member of various bands.
Retiring in 2002, Mario embraced the pleasures of life, cherishing each moment until the very end. His warm smile, love for family and musical spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the melodies that brought him joy throughout his remarkable journey

My condolences on the loss of Mario. I will miss his warm smile and good mornings as he picked out his favorite horse to bet on. We shared a love of the Beatles which we talked about many times. Rest in peace, Mario.
