Paolo Giovanni (John) Aiello was called into the arms of God on Sunday, December 17, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on July 16, 1968, in Calgary, Canada. He attended the University of Lethbridge and received degrees in Environmental Studies and Wildlife/Forestry Conservation. Following his education, John worked for Ducks Unlimited and later established himself as an Outfitter Hunting Guide at his company, Alberta’s Fall Flight. Later, John founded Aiello Contracting Inc. and worked as a general contractor. He proudly built and renovated many homes, restaurants, and businesses throughout Calgary and the surrounding area.
John was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. His other life’s passion was coaching youth soccer, and he was a great mentor to the many children he coached. He proudly led his soccer teams to many provincial finals. John’s passion, charm, and sense of humour endeared him to all.
John is survived by his wife of 20 years, Christina, and his sons Gianpaolo and Cristiano. John also leaves behind his mother, Caterina Aiello, and inlaws Catherine and Paul McNabb. He is survived by his siblings Vince (Anita) Aiello, Rosina (Ede)
Rodrigues, and Dawn (Vance) Elder; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. John was predeceased by his father Paolo Aiello.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to KidSport Canada or the charity of your choice.

My deepest condolences to Christina, Gianpaolo & Cristiano on John’s passing. We first met many years ago when he did work for me in my house. John was very meticulous in his craft and we had great conversations. He was a kind man and I enjoyed our time together when he came over. We still kept in touch through soccer and he will be deeply missed. He gave so much to soccer in Calgary and everyone benefited from it.

In John’s last year with the North Calgary FC board he left an everlasting impression on me with his dedication to the kids in the sport.
He will have a long standing legacy as a guy who treated his players like his own children.
Rest in peace 🕊️
I could not control my emotions when I found out about John. I will forever be in johns debit for what he taught me and all of us on how to be men and mature. To my brothers and most importantly friends Cristiano and Gianpallo I can not imagine what you are going through. Your father was an amazing coach and most importantly and amazing human being. I will never forget what John did for us. Wether it was helping us get to games, or helping us make it to provincials John was the best coach and father figure any of us young men could have asked for. John taught me so many things as a young man that I will never forget ever in my whole life. John was like another father to me. But most importantly to you boys I am so so sorry. And my thoughts and prayers are with you every moment of every day for the rest of time. “I can we will” my condolences.

My sincere condolences to all of his family. Myself, my son, and our friends traveled from California to Alberta every year for years just to hunt with Johnny.
In all those years not a hunt went by where he didn’t speak lovingly of his wife and children.
He touched so many lives in a positive and loving way.
He will be sorely missed, but remembered always in our thoughts and hearts.

Nolan and I are so sorry for your loss. John’s cousin spoke beautifully about him at the service. John was a pleasure to have known. It was very apparent with the shear number of people how many lives that John made an impact on. Christina , sending you and the boys all our love ❤️
